Catalog sources

A credential catalog is an external, published list of credential types. Each type describes a credential: its name, its type identifier, the formats it comes in, and the attributes it carries.

The Catalog sources screen decides which catalogs this wallet works with. Credential types from a source only become visible once you select that source here. Once visible, a type can be picked when you create an issuer template or add a credential to a verifier template.

What are catalog sources?

A catalog source is an external registry, such as Fides, WeBuild, or the EU catalogue (TS11), that publishes credential type definitions your wallet can use. Selecting a source on this screen makes its credential types available when you build issuer templates or verifier templates; deselecting it hides those types again without deleting anything already issued.

Open the screen

1. Open Settings.
2. Under Generic, select Catalog sources.

Each row under Available sources is one catalog. Which catalogs appear depends on your deployment. The wallet above works with Fides and WeBuild; EU catalogue (TS11) is another source you may see.

What is TS11?

TS11 is one of the technical specifications behind the European Digital Identity Wallet: Specification of Interfaces and Formats for the Catalogue of Attestation Rulebooks and Attributes. It defines how a registry publishes its catalog of credential types, so that any wallet can read any TS11 registry the same way. EU catalogue (TS11) is the European Commission's own registry; WeBuild is a separate registry that publishes in the same format.

Every row shows:

• A switch to turn the source on or off for this wallet.
• The source name.
• A count of the visible types, for example (17/17), meaning 17 of the 17 available types are visible.
• Automatically add new types: whether new types published by the source are added on their own.
• Add new types: reveals the types that were held back while Automatically add new types was off.

Below the sources sits a group called Other. It collects credential types that do not come from a selectable catalog, for example types you defined in this wallet yourself. It has no source switch, only type visibility.

Turn a source on or off

Flip the switch next to the source name.

Turning a source off hides all of its credential types. Existing templates that already use one of those types are unaffected, but you can no longer pick the type in a new template.

Changes are staged, not applied immediately. You have unsaved changes appears at the bottom of the screen. Click Save to apply them, or leave the screen to discard them.

Choose which credential types are visible

Click the arrow in front of a source to expand it.

Every type has a checkbox. A ticked type is visible in this wallet; unticking it hides that one type while keeping the rest of the source. Use Select all and Deselect all to flip the whole group at once.

The checkboxes only work while the source itself is switched on. When it is off, the list is dimmed and shows "Turn this source on to choose which credential types are visible."

Inspect a credential type

Click the arrow in front of a credential type to see what it contains.

• Description: what the type is for, as published by the catalog.
• Authority: the party that publishes the type.
• Type identifier: the identifier used on the wire, for example eu.we-build:contactperson:1. Use the copy button to put it on your clipboard.
• Formats: the credential formats this type is published in, for example dc+sd-jwt.
• Attributes: the attributes the credential carries. Label is the human-readable name, Path is the attribute path in the credential, Mandatory says whether the issuer must fill it in, and Selectively disclosable says whether the holder can share the attribute on its own.
• Category: the catalog's own grouping, for example business or finance.
• Language: shown only when the catalog publishes the display texts in a language other than the one you are using.

Keep up with new types

Catalogs keep publishing. Two controls decide how your wallet follows along:

• Automatically add new types (on by default): when the source publishes a new type, it becomes visible in this wallet on its own. Turn it off to keep the current selection fixed and add new types by hand.
• Add new types: makes visible, right now, every type that was held back while the switch above was off. Types you hid by hand stay hidden. Unlike the switches, this is an action and takes effect without saving. A message tells you how many types were added, or that there was nothing new.

Add new types is disabled while you have unsaved changes. Save or discard them first.

Required permission

You need the Catalog (View) permission to open this screen, and Catalog (Change) to change the sources or the type selection.
